A Brief History
The Yacht Rally event of Sail Boat have just been started in the early of 2003 - the Darwin - Kupang Rally and Raymond T. Lesmana bring up the idea to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Indonesia then was agreed by Mrs. Mira P. Gunawan (Deputy) with Kupang in the eastern part of Indonesia became the Entry Point. This idea had also been triggered by the confusion to ran the Darwin - Kupang Yacht Race when the Bali bomb blew up in 2002, and the yacht rally was taking points Darwin - Kupang - Bali. The cooperation with Mr. David Woodhouse as a senior yachter and also one of the official members of Darwin Sailing Club was work very well.
Surprisingly the rally had been demanded by a significant group of Yachters in its first year with a total of 23 boats participated, and the event has became a part of Indonesia Marine Tournament leaded by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Indonesia. The same event had also been executed in the year of 2004 with the same name - Indonesia Marine Tournament.
Yayasan Cinta Bahari Indonesia was founded in the year of 2005 and has been dedicated in our VISION to put Indonesia as the Best Marine Destination in the World and our MISSION is to creat a Sailing Passage thoruh out the Indonesian Water.
The first Sailing Pasage that we are creating is the Westrn Passage which is started in Kupang as the Entry Point and BAtam as the Exit Point, since then the Sail Indonesia Yacht Rally have been expanded on its stopping destinations based on the mission.
In 2005 Mr. Aji Sularso - as one of the founders of Yayasan Cinta Bahari Indonesia proposing Sail Indonesia as the name of the yacht rally and we did agree and put the name for the rally and patented under the Yayasan Cinta Bahari Indonesia.
YAYASAN CINTA BAHARI INDONESIA (YCBI) is a non government and non profit organization, in the running action YCBI has also done some empowerment for the coastal society and motivating the local government to put more attention to their coastal area.
In 2010 - based on the vote of all founders the name of Yayasan Cinta Bahari Indonesia was changed to YAYASAN CINTA BAHARI ANTAR NUSA
We do understand that there are many things that we have to learn and so many things also have to be done - it's not as easy as it said but we believe we have to start of something, sometimes.
The helping hands from the Local Government and the People of every destination had made Sail Indonesia became the Biggest Sailing Event in South East Asia in 2007 with a total of 120 boats participated.
Eventually Sail Indonesia have been expanding because of many cooperation, the people, the local and central governments, the related institutions, the participants support thru their emails and websites and of course the dedication of Mr. David Woodhouse who has sacrificing his time in deed on receiving participants and also have thought us a lot about the sailing activities and needs of yachters along the time.
We will keep on trying to reach our Vision and Mission - we honored all the things those had been done and appreciate the incoming supports of any kind that will make us come to a better knowledge and services.
